What is Weegee?

Weegee is a classic internet meme based on a poorly drawn Luigi sprite from the 1992 DOS game "Mario Is Missing". The character's awkward stare became famous on 4chan in 2007, where it was said that anyone who looked at Weegee would be "infected" and turned into Weegee themselves. The name comes from an Engrish pronunciation of "Luigi" due to the lack of an "L" sound in Japanese.
